The main reason I paint is that it brings me solitary happiness. Translating onto canvas what has inspired my heart and soul - the unforgettable moments, the beauty I want to preserve, the sadness I want to throw away, and the stories I keep to myself only - gives me a profound sense of freedom and joy. My art also expresses the loneliness of being an immigrant, an outsider's feeling that she belongs neither here nor there.
